Individualism

Individualism in 1984 is nearly nonexistent. The communist government has complete control over all the people and rules out induvidualism. Here is a clip showing the lack of induvidualism and the extremes that some people go to to get it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhsWzJo2sN4.

  1. In a communist society the gov takes away ability to choose for themselves.

Individualism keeps people unique because they are allowed to think for themselves and can make choices about their life.

Our rights are protected by the constitution and through that our individuality becasue we can think for ourselves.

  2. Often people believe that the individualism gets in the way of unity, however; the individualism itself can be a source of unity among people, a way to bond and trust. Sometimes this worries a communist government and they work harder to unify people (even if it means taking away their personalities so that everyone is the same).
